GMP detective allegedly raped, sexually abused and urinated on young girl after grooming her, jury told

A Greater Manchester Police detective repeatedly raped and sexually abused a girl after grooming her, a jury has been told. A court heard Detective Constable Stephen Hardy, 45, 'gained power and control' over her and described her virginity as 'special'.

Prosecutors also allege he made her kneel and urinated on her chest on one occasion. Mr Hardy - who worked for GMP as a detective in Stockport - is on trial at Liverpool Crown Court. He denies a total of 20 charges, which include rape; sexual assault; and causing a child to engage in sexual activity.

Opening the case, Vanessa Thomson, prosecuting, said the girl alleged Mr Hardy, of Hyde Road in Mottram, Tameside, 'physically bullied' her and showed her pornographic material on his phone from the website Pornhub when she was a teenager.

Mr Hardy, the jury was told, was arrested after she contacted the police. In interviews, he denied the allegations and an interest in urination, the court heard. Ms Thomson told the jury messages found on his phone between him and an ex-partner 'demonstrated that they had a specific interest in urination as part of their sexual practices'.

Four videos depicting acts of urination were also found on his tower computer and mobile phone, the prosecutor told the jury.

The trial, expected to last two weeks, continues.
