Glenn Hoddle in biting Ange at Celtic verdict as Tottenham icon offers scant praise for 'one team league'
Glenn Hoddle has played down Ange Postecoglou's Celtic achievements declaring there is "one team" in Scotland as he told the Tottenham boss "the Premier League is a different ball game".
The new man in charge in north London led his side to a thrilling 2-2 draw against Brentford in his first English Premier League clash since leaving the hot seat at the Scottish Premiership champions behind off the back of bringing a Treble to Celtic Park. The all-out attacking Angeball style was on show and earned praise from the Tottenham support – but club legend Hoddle remained unconvinced after the full-time whistle.
The former Spurs player and manager reckons that the Postecoglou football philosophy will work in Scotland because there is no challengers to Celtic for silverware - a comment which have will raised the eyebrows of Rangers fans. And he warned the the boss faces a "conundrum" over his high line in the English top flight.
Speaking to Optus Sport after the Australian bosses first game in charge, Hoddle said: “I’m excited, but Celtic is one thing, particularly up there in Scotland at the moment. There’s one team, he’s done well, he’s won trophies but it’s a different ball game, the Premier League. I think he’s going to find out that he’s got to be realistic in the Premier League. The way he played at Celtic and the way he had the team playing, I think if they play 100 per cent like that then Spurs will be in for a very, very difficult season.
