Glasgow's SA-born winger out of Bulls clash

Glasgow Warriors' South African-born winger, Kyle Steyn, will miss Friday's United Rugby Championship clash against the Bulls in Pretoria.

The 28-year-old Scottish international suffered an Achilles injury in Glasgow's 32-7 loss to the Stormers in Cape Town last week and looks set to miss the remainder of the season.

Glasgow coach Danny Wilson on Monday gave an update on Steyn's injury and said Ratu Tagive had been called up as cover.

"Kyle Steyn is definitely out. He had basically an Achilles injury that looks like a medium-term injury, hopefully not long term," Wilson told reporters.

"Kyle had a scan and has an appointment with a specialist to determine the length of time... whether we see Kyle again this season we have to wait and see, could be doubtful.

"It's unlucky for Kyle, he was looking forward to playing in South Africa, and he’s been in good form."

Glasgow Warriors are sixth in the URC standings on 50 points, while the Bulls are eighth on 48 points.

Friday's match at Loftus Versfeld kicks off at 19:00.
