Girl accused of murdering Brianna Ghey 'burst out crying' when she learned of her death, jury told

A girl accused of murdering Brianna Ghey told police she 'burst out crying' when she heard that the teenager had died, a jury heard. Girl X, then aged 15, told officers that she and her co-defendant Boy Y had met Brianna at a bus stop, and had walked into Culcheth Linear Park where the trio were 'chilling for a bit'.

She told police that Brianna had said she was meeting a 'lad' from Manchester and 'stormed off'. Girl X said she later heard that Brianna had died.

The defendant said she was 'really upset' when she heard the news. "I just burst out crying," she said.

Brianna, a 16-year-old transgender girl, died after being stabbed 28 times, jurors at Manchester Crown Court have heard. She was found by dog walkers in the park near Warrington at around 3pm on Saturday, February 11.

She said: "I didn't even find out about it until after it happened and it was on the news. I was with Brianna on the day it happened."

She said Brianna took the bus from her home in Birchwood to meet the defendants in Culcheth. Girl X said: "She got off the bus and we went straight to Linear Park.

"We kept moving about, there was like a forest thing, we walked about the forest for a bit." She
