Gio van Bronckhorst in Rangers young guns salute as he vows to make it a 'memorable' night in Seville

Giovanni van Bronckhorst saluted his Rangers young guns as he vowed to do everything to give the fans an historic and memorable night in Seville this week.

The Light Blues boss admitted the biggest compliment he could play his fringe men and kids is that they dominated against Scottish Cup final opponents Hearts despite making so many changes.

That included kids with Alex Lowry again impressing with a goal and assist and Cole McKinnon making a it a dream debut with a strike in the 3-1 win at Tynecastle.

Adam Devine started with Ross McAusland and Tony Weston also coming on and Van Bronckhorst told Rangers TV: “It was very pleasing.

“It’s the last game of the season and before two big finals so I decided to change players and give some players a rest.

“But I’m really impressed with the win because of the way we played. You couldn’t see all the changes we made - especially in the second half with so many youngsters on the pitch.

“They performed really well and we dominated against a very good side with a very young team so I’m really proud of my players, especially the youngsters.

“We need to show the confidence. I told them before the game that we had some changes in the line up and a lot of youngsters on the bench but once we pull on the Rangers shirt we’re expected to win the game and they accepted that really well.

“We know the qualities of Alex (Lowry) in the one v ones. He’s quite dangerous which he showed today.

“It was good to see Cole in the team after a good year with the ‘B’ team and he started and finished the attack for his goal.

“It’s a special moment to make his debut and scoring - not many players can say that.”
