Gillingham to play Crawley Town in League 2 on Saturday infront of a sell-out crowd at Priestfield Stadium

Gillingham boss Neil Harris can’t wait for his side to play in front of another packed Priestfield Stadium.

The Gills have sold the ground out after inviting supporters to “pay what they can” while Saturday’s visitors Crawley Town have also maxed out their 750-seat allocation for what is another huge game in the battle to avoid the drop from League 2.

Adding spice to the fixture is the form of former Crawley striker Tom Nichols.

Nichols has scored three goals in each of his three appearances since making the switch to Priestfield from the West Sussex outfit.

Another of their old favourites, Glenn Morris, will be in goal for the Gills.

Gillingham need a win to lift themselves out of the relegation zone - a result which would drag Crawley into trouble.

Harris said: “It is another huge game, a team above us, they won on Saturday, a sold-out Priestfield and the atmosphere will be there.

“We know there are going to be 9,000 Gillingham fans turning up, excited to see their team.”

It’s not just cheap tickets that are attracting fans back to their club. Close to 1,000 made the trip to Swindon last Saturday to watch a thrilling 3-3 draw.

Hope has been restored and the new signings are already making an immediate impact. Those supporters made for a fervent atmosphere last weekend.

“It was a great atmosphere and a great occasion,” said Harris, whose side have taken seven points from the last nine.

“The crowd as a whole was excellent, a rivalry between the clubs and the fans went in their numbers.
