'Get him up top' - Manchester United fans sent wild by Scott McTominay goals for Scotland

Manchester United supporters are urging Erik ten Hag to unleash Scott McTominay up front after watching the Scotland international continue his purple patch against Spain on Tuesday night.

Having netted twice for the Tartan Army during the opening Euro 2024 qualifier against Cyprus on Saturday afternoon, the United midfielder was at it again with another two goals against the European giants with his second at Hampden Park providing match-goers with a moment to savour.

It was an iconic result for Scotland as they maintained their 100 per cent record in Group A after two games and they can already dream about making the showcase in Germany next summer. If they manage to do that, McTominay and his early impact over the March international break will be looked upon as a catalyst.

Despite being handed regular game-time at the start of this Premier League season, McTominay has started only once for United in that competition since their 6-3 drubbing by Manchester City in October as Casemiro and others remain favoured by Erik ten Hag in the engine room.

However, with the Brazilian powerhouse still suspended, domestically, the 26-year-old might be called upon by Ten Hag on Sunday afternoon. Marcel Sabitzer and Christian Eriksen are among several players injured and that will also bolster his chances, along with four goals in back-to-back outings for his nation.

McTominay comes into the reckoning for a place in central midfield when the Premier League returns, but his goalscoring heroics for the Tartan Army have led to some United supporters claiming he should get the nod in attacking quarters! Here are a selection of comments as taken from Twitter;
