Gervonta Davis vs Ryan Garcia: Oscar De La Hoya 'optimistic' after fresh talks

Ryan Garcia‘s promoter Oscar De La Hoya remains “optimistic” a deal can be done to fight Gervonta Davis before the end of this year.

Talks between the two fighters have been ongoing for quite some time with slow but incremental process.

In an attempt to move things forward last week, Golden Boy President, De La Hoya’s second-in-command Eric Gomez, recently revealedthat he is in discussions with Garcia’s representative, Leonard Ellerbe.

And De La Hoya, who signed Garcia when he was a teenager, has given fans hope they could see them share the ring in the not too distant future.

“He’s obviously ahead of his craft. Yeah, I think this fight can be made. No, I believe it was something else. I believe they had met up a club or something to that respect.

“It wasn’t about the fight being done. I think both guys are going to go at it. It shows that they want to fight really bad, but do I think it’s going to happen? Absolutely.
