Georgia Transfer RB Trevor Etienne Throws Shade At Florida, Didn't Want To Be On 'Losing Team'

Former Florida running back Trevor Eitinne didn't hold back on why he transferred to Georgia via the portal in a recent podcast with his new teammates in Athens. 

If you thought the 2024 matchup between the Gators and Bulldogs in Jacksonville didn't need any type of further buildup, the former Florida running back added some fuel to the fire. 

There are plenty of reasons why a player decides to leave a program -- some of it has to do with playing time, while other times it's centered around a coaching staff. Coming off a season where Etienne rushed for 753 yards, while leading the team with eight rushing touchdowns, there was a good chance that Trevor could get a majority of the snaps in 2024. 

But, after splitting carries with Montrell Johnson Jr. last season, the former Gator decided it was time to move on, with NIL also playing a factor in his decision. The Bulldogs lost Kendall Milton and Daijun Edwards from last year's team that finished with only one loss, losing to Alabama in the SEC Championship. 

So, Kirby Smart decided to scour the transfer portal for additional help in the running back room, poaching a player from an opposing SEC team and hated rival. Coming from Florida, with Billy Napier still trying to find his way in Gainesville, while keeping the hounds at bay, it didn't help that the Gators head coach lost one of his most dynamic playmakers.
