George Thomason makes Cheltenham Town vow on back of Bolton Wanderers performance vs Charlton

George Thomason admits his star performance last weekend for Bolton Wanderers against Charlton Athletic stemmed from the trust he has from his team-mates as he vowed they will not be taking Cheltenham Town lightly this weekend.

Wanderers head to Gloucestershire to take on a Robins side sitting in the relegation zone at present. The Whites returned to winning ways against the Addicks in their latest match with a 3-1 victory.

Thomason starred in the middle of the park against the London side and has reflected on his performance following the success. He explained how the showing was backed up buy his team-mates' trust as Wanderers now look to taking on the Robins.

Thomason said: "Every footballer will tell you they are their own biggest critic but equally you know when you have had a good game and I felt I performed well on the day.

“I have had the trust from my team-mates and everyone around the club. I didn’t feel any real pressure. I did have those butterflies in the stomach but I didn’t feel I needed to do anything other than my normal game to impress because I knew I had the trust of people around me.

“I think every game is a tough game. They’ve got a small stadium, the crowd will be packed and close to the pitch, so they’re going to create an atmosphere. Right now they are down there but they’ll be fighting to get that win and we’ll do some more analysing in the week but we won’t be taking it lightly, that’s for sure.”

One player who could soon return to the fray on a more regular basis is fellow midfielder Josh Sheehan. The Wales international had been out since November with a ruptured ACL before
