General Election 2024: The big name Conservative ministers who have lost their seats

It has been a night of devastation for the Conservatives. Rishi Sunak's party has been predicted to see its worst result in a near 200-year history.

The exit polls had first predicted a 'landslide' Labour victory in the 2024 General Election. At 5am today (July 5), Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer gave his victory speech, with the party passing the crucial 326-seat mark to claim power.

Deputy leader Angela Rayner told Sky News on Friday morning (July 5) that she thought the Conservatives were being 'punished' for the past 14 years. And a number of Tory ministers lost their seats in what became a bloodbath for the party.

The Lib Dems also claimed victory in Cheltenham, a seat held by the Justice Secretary Alex Chalk, while Tory chief whip Simon Hart lost to Plaid Cymru in the Welsh seat of Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire.
