General election 2024 results LIVE: Exit poll due as polling stations set to close
Results for the general election 2024 will be declared overnight. It comes after millions of voters cast their ballots in polling stations up and down the country on Thursday.
All of Greater Manchester's 27 constituencies in Bolton, Bury, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford and Wigan were being contested.
The first national general election results are expected shortly before midnight, with Blyth & Ashington in Northumberland to declare at around 11.45pm. The first Greater Manchester result is likely to be Makerfield at 1am.

By 4am enough results should be in to know which party is on course to win the election and by what margin. All UK and Greater Manchester results should then have been declared by mid-morning.
To form a majority government in Parliament a party needs to win at least 326 out of the 650 UK seats.
The 2024 general election took place using new constituency boundaries following a review by the boundary commissions of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. As a result, hundreds of the UK's constituencies were renamed and had their boundaries changed, while others were created.
