Gazza trip on boy explained as Rangers legend’s management insist 'don’t believe everything you read'

Rangers legend Paul Gascoigne's representatives have moved to clarify the "young fan" he invited onto the Ibrox playing surface before tripping him up was in fact his agent's son.

And they insist there was no harm caused despite accusations the former Newcastle and Tottenham star had humiliated the lad in the warm-up to the legends game against Luis Figo's world stars.

A clip showed Gascoigne beckoning a boy to join him on the pitch only for him to seen hitting the deck moments later.

But M&N Management, who have worked with Gascoigne since 2019, insist there was nothing malicious in the act and that the pair are in fact great friends.

The statement read: "M&N Management would like to make a correction on recent statements made by the papers.

"The 'young fan' who was 'tripped up' by Gazza at the weekend during the Rangers vs World XI game was in fact his agent's son.

"The two are constantly playing practical jokes on one another and play fighting.

"We confirm that no harm was caused."

Gascoigne's goal in the final seconds of the match, played to raise money for Portugal legend Figo's foundation, raised the roof as players from both teams mobbed him in celebration.

The world select won 3-2 with goals from Carlos Marchena, Nuno Gomes and Ricardo Quaresma.

Shota Arveladze and 'Gazza' were on target for the hosts.
