Gary Rowett proves Sheffield United got what they wanted from Oliver Burke's Millwall loan

Gary Rowett believes Sheffield United may well be in a position in the summer where they can attract interest in striker Oliver Burke. The 25-year-old teamed up with the Lions in January having fallen out of favour at Bramall Lane.

He began the season in former boss Slavisa Jokanovic's plans, playing in the first three matches but he would not feature again in the Championship following that August run-out. He appeared just three more times in the EFL and FA Cup before current manager Paul Heckingbottom sanctioned his move to London.

At the time Heckingbottom explained why it was important to get players game time elsewhere not only for themselves, but for the good of the club in terms of raising their value, which diminishes if they are sat in the stands and not able to contribute.

Two goals and an assist have helped Millwall remain in the hunt for a play-off place. They will kick off Saturday's final round of fixtures as one of four teams vying for those remaining two positions.

Rowett has been impressed with not only his impact but that of his other loanees too, such as Benik Afobe and Daniel Ballard. He is believed to be keen on signing all three in the summer but believes their success means they are likely to be in demand.

That is exactly what Heckingbottom and Sheffield United hoped would be the case. The Blades are unlikely to need much persuading should an offer materialise to take the former Nottingham Forest and West Brom forward off their hands permanently.
