Gary Neville takes on new Manchester United job after Sir Alex Ferguson steps down
Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville has been working as a freelance ambassador for the club.
The news follows the announcement that Sir Alex Ferguson's full-time ambassadorial agreement is winding down. Ferguson will step down from his role at the end of the current season, after that call was made by Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
Other Old Trafford heroes have distinct ambassador roles, each with its unique set of duties. In line with Ratcliffe's vision of developing a 'Wembley of the North' - and as part of the club's stadium task force exploring this concept - Neville was asked to fly the flag for United on a recent visit to India.

The 49-year-old footballer-turned-businessman - not to mention TV pundit - joined a panel discussion at Mohali's Minerva academy. His journey to India supported Apollo Tyres' premier grassroots football initiative, where he participated in the 'United We Play' scheme - a program orchestrated by the tyre brand with the goal 'to enable our next-generation players to reach their optimum performance by unlocking their potential'.
As reported by The Sun, Neville's visit to India was on a freelance basis. The former England international, who's frequently seen on broadcasting duties in the UK and United States, has many responsibilities, and a photo from the event shows him speaking against a backdrop of event logos and the United badge, as per The Mirror reports.
