Gary Neville didn't hold back when assessing Manchester United's current problems as he hit out with an on-air rant about his former club against Liverpool.

The former United defender was on commentary duty as Liverpool hosted the Red Devils at Anfield on Tuesday night. Liverpool are miles ahead of United in every aspect at the moment and that's exactly what transpired.

Luis Diaz fired the Reds into an early lead before Mohamed Salal doubled their lead. Liverpool were at their brilliant best playing free-flowing football, but from a United perspective, it was a horror show.

And Neville didn't mince his words when analysing his former club during the game, calling them a "waste of space" when Salah made it 2-0.

He said: "This Man Utd team are a waste of space.

"However, the football Liverpool have delivered here is absolutely sublime. The quality! That pass from Mane, that touch from Salah, that finish are world class. And it's why Liverpool go into the last 10 or 11 games of the season in an unbelievable position to sweep up.

"This is as bad as it gets. I thought Man Utd looked promising towards the end of last season but the demise to where they're at today has been alarming. What we're watching is nothing. This is nothing."
