Gary Neville returns to family's 'favourite chippy' to cook fish and chips for Roy Keane and Jamie Carragher

It's not every day that you bump into a trio of footballing legends eating fish and chips on a park bench.

But visitors to Whitehead Park, in Bury, were left stunned last week when they came across Gary Neville, Roy Keane and Jamie Carragher tucking into their lunches. Former United defender Neville took his fellow pundits on a tour of his hometown as part of a new TV series.

The trio called in at Stephen Street Chippery - reportedly a favourite of the Neville family - where Gary was invited behind the fryer to cook fish and chips for Keane and Carragher.

John Kilgariff, who owns the chippy with his wife, Rebecca, said: "We knew about the visit about a month ago but they asked us to keep it hush-hush because they didn't want mobbing outside. Apparently Gary used to come in here with his mum and grandmother and it was their favourite chippy.

Mr Kilgariff said Neville and Carragher ordered fish and chips, while Keane went for chips with Irish curry. The group posed for pictures with staff at the chippy before heading to the park across the road to eat their food.

Images shared on social media showed them tucking into their food on a bench. During the visit, they also stopped at Gary's childhood home in Ainsworth Road.

In an Instagram post, Neville revealed that the visit was part of filming for The Overlap on Tour, a TV series which is due to air
