Gary Neville makes Man United promise fans will love after commentary criticism vs Liverpool FC

Gary Neville has hit back at criticism of his Manchester United commentary following the Reds' victory over Liverpool on Monday night.

Neville is a regular on Sky Sports, especially when United are playing, and he is never shy in showing his allegiance to the club he used to play for and supports. The 47-year-old was back on commentary duty this week during the Reds' first victory of the season.

Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford both scored for United before Mohamed Salah made things interesting with a late header. Sky Sports viewers could hear Neville's celebrations when United scored, while Martin Tyler noted that he had "gone quiet" in the last 10 minutes as Jurgen Klopp's men chased an equaliser.

As well as showing his clear support for United during games, Neville is known for his impassioned rants about the club. His rant about the Glazer family's ownership following United's 4-0 hammering at Brentford saw him and fellow pundit Jamie Redknapp lock horns.

But not everyone appears to be a fan of Neville's punditry style, with The Telegraph's Luke Edwards writing an opinion piece titled 'Sorry, Gary Neville – but we want your expert analysis, not fan-boy antics'. In a tweet promoting the article, The Telegraph posed the question: "What do we want from football punditry – entertainment or insight?"

Responding to Edwards' piece, Neville responded: "Sorry Luke Edwards I will continue to do both," accompanied by a laughing face emoji.
