Gary Neville has given verdict on Sofyan Amrabat deal after revealing Manchester United worry

Gary Neville has already welcomed the signing of Sofyan Amrabat after admitting his concerns about Manchester United's midfield.

It's been a mixed start to the season for Erik ten Hag's United side, who have conceded four goals in their last two Premier League outings. The midfield set-up has faced plenty of scrutiny.

Casemiro and Mason Mount were under the spotlight prior to the latter's injury, with worries over whether they can function alongside Bruno Fernandes in the middle. The Brazilian has looked isolated and vulnerable to counter-attacks.

MEN Sportreported on Wednesday that United are working on a deal for Amrabat. The Morrocan midfielder has been linked with the club all summer and has one year left on his deal.

After United's first league game, a Monday night 1-0 win over Wolves, Neville welcomed the addition of another midfielder. In particular, he laid out the qualities of Amrabat and thinks he'd be a good addition.

Neville told Sky Sports: "They are trying to sign, or were trying to sign, Sofyan Amrabat we believe, to go in there alongside Casemiro. I don't know [who Ten Hag would drop] but they want to buy Amrabat for a reason.

"One thing that Ten Hag is not going to do is go back to the likes of Fred and Scott McTominay, who he believes are technically not good enough on the ball. He wants everybody in the team to be able to accept the football and receive it.
