Gary Neville has already voiced concerns about possible Man United tactic vs Man City

Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville has previously expressed concerns about Bruno Fernandes operating as a 'false nine' amid the possibility of him being deployed in that role against Manchester City at Wembley on Saturday.

For the second game running, Fernandes started at the tip of United's attack for Sunday's 2-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium. It meant Rasmus Hojlund, just as he did against Newcastle United four days earlier, started among the substitutes.

However, Hojlund, just as he did against the Magpies, stepped off the bench to score, putting himself right in the frame to be recalled to the starting line up for the FA Cup final. He has netted 16 goals this season and will be determined to add to his tally in what will be the biggest game of his United career thus far.

Admitting two different formations are under consideration for the clash with City, United boss Erik ten Hag, speaking after the win at Brighton, said: "I think he (Hojlund) came in after we scored the goal with the movement from Diogo in behind and he showed [he was] very fresh, as on Wednesday as well. He scored two great goals and he made a very good impression.

"I think it's a luxury problem and I think both formations can be a success because, as you know, we can play like the set-up in the Etihad where we were a threat, with movement in behind. Of course, with Rasmus Hojlund in this form it's an absolute consideration and thought that we have to consider and to take, so let's have a thought."
