Gary Neville disagrees with Micah Richards as Marcus Rashford point made after Man Utd decision

A number of pundits have made their thoughts clear following Ruben Amorim's decision to axe Marcus Rashford from the Manchester derby which Manchester United went on to win 2-1.

Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho were dropped from the matchday squad for the victory at Manchester City and instead, trained at Carrington on Sunday morning. Amorim explained that performances in training and games plus the way you dress, eat and engage with teammates went into his thinking when selecting a squad.

At full-time, Rashford took to social media to share his delight at United's victory. However, his long-term future at Old Trafford is somewhat unclear.

With that in mind, the Manchester Evening News has taken a look at what the pundits have said after Rashford was absent from the Manchester derby.

"I don’t know about their long term future," he told Sky Sports. "But what is really clear is that [Amorim] mentioned engaging with team-mates, he’s mentioned standards. He’s giving us clues, in fact, emphatic clues, about the last few days that they’re moping and not doing their bit around the training ground.

"It’s standards in training and he’s thought, ‘No, I’m not having it, I’m not accepting it’. Good on him. For far too long we’ve seen players mope around that pitch and still continue to get a game or on the bench. No. It’s got to be non-negotiable.
