Gary Neville conjures up Chelsea nickname for the ages as skeleton Liverpool crew piles the misery on Poch

Gary Neville branded Chelsea "billion-pound bottle jobs" as Liverpool ran out winners in the Carabao Cup Final.

Virgil van Dijk was the hero for the Reds as he headed home with just minutes to play in extra-time to spark wild scenes on and off the park as Jurgen Klopp and his troops lifted silverware at Wembley. The game was tense and it looked like no one would score during the normal 90 minutes. Van Dijk did have the ball in the net, but after a VAR review that didn't count, which made people talk a lot.

As extra-time was almost over, and both teams had tried hard with the game heading towards a penalty shootout, skipper Van Dijk scored. Gary Neville, who used to play for Manchester United and was talking about the game on Sky Sports, said some strong words about the Blues admitted he had NO sympathy for them after what had unfolded at England's national stadium. He said: "It's [Jurgen] Klopp's kids against the billion-pound bottle jobs. I've got no sympathy whatsoever!"

After the game, Van Dijk talked about how important the win was. He said: "It means so much, all the young boys on the pitch in extra time, it's incredible I'm so proud of the team, intense game for both sides, we had chances and... amazing."

Van Dijk also made a joke about not wanting to get hurt because Liverpool has had many players injured lately. He said: "I didn't want to get injured, I tried to get up a little bit quick." He added: "Listen it's emotion, it's everything and I'm so proud of the boys, all the young boys playing their part in what we achieved today and it's incredible and, yeah, onto more."
