Gary Neville and Roy Keane disagree with Jamie Carragher claim that would see Man United record matched

Manchester United legends Gary Neville and Roy Keane dismissed Jamie Carragher's claim that winning the Champions League is more impressive than winning the Premier League.

Debate raged after Liverpool left the Etihad with a point having come from behind to draw with Manchester City. For Jurgen Klopp's side, they still have a chance of completing a famous Quadruple as they look to add the Champions League, FA Cup and Premier League to their Carabao Cup triumph.

A second Premier League crown would see Liverpool equal United's record as the most successful top-flight club in English football history. However, Carragher says he would rather win the Champions League.

"For me, you’ve got the big five leagues in Europe, there will be five teams or lots of teams who win it but only one team wins the Champions League and that transforms your team winning the Champions League," Carragher said.

But former United stalwarts Keane and Neville were in disagreement with the former Liverpool defender. Neville said: "I think it’s a Premier League for Liverpool to go level with Manchester United in titles, obviously more Champions League and European Cups.

"I think Roy is right for them to cement themselves, if City win four in five, for Jurgen Klopp to do what he has done is unbelievable to start with but to take two titles off this Man City squad with the wage bill less is out of this world what Jurgen Klopp’s doing.

"He’s already won the Champions League but to win two league titles would be something." Keane agreed, adding: "Not for me, league title every day of the week. It’s what you do week in, week out in terms of what you stand for as a player.
