Gary Neville agrees with Manchester United fans' concerns over transfer activity

Gary Neville has expressed his concern over the lack of transfer activity at Manchester United during the early stages of the transfer window.

New United boss Erik ten Hag faces a huge summer as he begins his rebuild at Old Trafford. The club have already announced 11 players are to be released at the end of the month, including first-team stars Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, Nemanja Matic and Edinson Cavani.

More players could follow them out of the exit door as the summer progresses, while Ten Hag has identified some of his targets as he aims to replace those departing. United are in talks with Barcelona over a potential deal for Frenkie de Jong, while they are also interested in Jurrien Timber and Christian Eriksen.

As of yet though, United haven't made any new additions, with fans becoming increasingly restless at the lack of signings. Their patience hasn’t been helped by the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool having already made big signings in Erling Haaland and Darwin Nunez, both of whom were linked with moves to Old Trafford.

And former United captain Neville admits he’s ‘worried’ by the lack of new additions so far. The former defender previously hit out at the club for acting slowly in the transfer window, and his fears may coming home to roost again.

“I know early in the window but it’s worrying that United are struggling to get business done,” Neville tweeted. “The others seem set and ready yet United can’t get moving.

“ETH (Erik ten Hag) needs his group together asap to mould them. Bringing them in late will only make it harder for him! [Fingers crossed] it happens soon!”
