Gary Lineker sums up Chelsea situation in two words as Roman Abramovich hit with sanctions

Gary Lineker has had his say on Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich being sanctioned by the UK government.

Abramovich is one of seven oligarchs to have had his assets frozen amid Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

He has seen all of his UK assets frozen, including Chelsea Football Club.

The Blues have been handed a special licence to continue football operations, though the sanction effectively blocks a £3 billion sale of the football club being completed.

Abramovich announced last week that he was putting the club up for sale.

It is understood Chelsea will not be allowed to sell any more tickets to their upcoming games, meaning only season ticket holders will be allowed to attend matches at Stamford Bridge.

Lineker posted a short message on Twitter, saying: "Huge ramifications for @ChelseaFC."
