Game of Thrones star Hafthor Björnsson' clash with Eddie Hall set to take place next month

The highly anticipated fight between Game of Thrones star Hafthor Björnsson, better known as Thor, and British strongman Eddie Hall, is reportedly set to take place in March.

The match – which was dubbed ‘The Heaviest Boxing Match in History’ – was set to take place last September, however it fell through just weeks before fight night as Hall suffered a catastrophic torn bicep which required surgery.

Björnsson instead faced Canadian arm-wrestling champion, Devon Larratt. The short-notice replacement was no match for the 6ft 7inch giant who won the match on by first-round stoppage.

Björnsson, best known for his role as The Mountain in Game of Thrones, took to Instagram to tease followers about the long-awaited grudge match. The Icelandic giant posted a video of himself hitting a heavy bag with the caption: “March it is. Fight is on. Let’s f*cking pray Eddie doesn’t back out again!”Although an official date, time, and venue are yet to be confirmed, Hall announced on his YouTube channel that “we are roughly seven weeks to the fight.”

Speaking on his website the Briton said:

“Not only will this be the heaviest boxing match in history, but it features two immense competitors who have been training intensely to reach peek mental and physical fitness.

“Winning is everything in this once-in-a-lifetime clash, but I know one thing – I want it more and will leave Thor lying on the floor.”
