Gabriel Jesus: The scary moment Arsenal star was wiped out vs Liverpool

Arsenal secured their biggest win of the Premier League season to date as they put Liverpool to the sword 3-2 on Sunday afternoon.

In what felt like a watershed moment for the Gunners’ hopes of genuinely competing for the title, Mikel Arteta’s men were not deterred by two equalisers from the visitors as they snatched a late winner at Emirates Stadium.

Gabriel Martinelli fired Arsenal into the lead after just 58 seconds, before Bukayo Saka’s brace proved the difference and rendered Darwin Nunez and Roberto Firmino’s strikes as immaterial.

However, the game certainly wasn’t without its controversy as Liverpool fans understandably felt aggrieved with a number of decisions that went against them.

From a penalty not being given for Gabriel’s seeming handball in the first-half to the manner in which Arsenal won their match-winning spot-kick, there was plenty for Kopites to feel angry about on Sunday night.

But amidst the anger of Liverpool fans and ecstasy of Arsenal supporters, everyone came together in feeling concerned when Gabriel Jesus hit the deck under worrying circumstances in the second-half.

Despite tensions running high with the scores locked at 2-2, both Arsenal and Liverpool players were keen to come to Jesus’ aid when he was elbowed in the face by Konstantinos Tsimikas.

In what was almost certainly an accidental incident, the Reds full-back swung his left elbow having just dodged a floored Martin Odegaard and the subsequent movement landed flush in the centre of Jesus’ face.

And with the 25-year-old proceeding to hit the ground in alarming fashion, there were instantly impassioned calls for the physio team to respond with Saka looking particularly distressed.
