WATCH | Simply electric! Arsenal fans drown out Liverpool's away support at Emirates Stadium

In London, Emirates Stadium

It was a must-win for Mikel Arteta's Arsenal when Liverpool visited the Emirates Stadium on Sunday for an epic Premier League clash.

Title holders Manchester City clawed their way back to the summit of the log standings after hammering Southampton.

News24 Sport enjoyed a complete matchday programme at the Emirates Stadium alongside BP South Africa and Castrol's competition winners for the ultimate experience.

We were seated in a box, which is the second tier snug between the lower and upper tier of the Liverpool fans, who showed up in their numbers.

But the Scousers went silent as early as 58 seconds into the first half when Martin Odegaard slid the Liverpool defence to send a delightful ball towards Gabriel Martinelli's, who hit the back of the net, sending the Gooners into delirium.

Liverpool responded fifteen minutes later through Darwin Nunez with a typical centre-forward finish, giving the travelling fans something to cheer about in what has been a tough campaign.

Seconds before the half-time whistle, the Reds' defence went napping, allowing Bukayo Saka to slot home from close range. Still, Liverpool replied eight minutes after the break through Roberto Firmino.

Arsenal's roaring home fans began picking up the momentum in cheering them on, and the 12th man certainly had its advantages.

Despite referee Michael Oliver's questionable decision to award Arsenal a penalty, Saka netted from the spot to take the score to 3-2 in the final 15 minutes of the match.

The Gunners held on for the win, dethroned City to take charge of the log table and the home fans were beaming.
