Gabriel Jesus tells Man City to sign Erling Haaland as he issues fresh update on his own future

Gabriel Jesus has urged Manchester City to sign Erling Haaland, even if it would reduce his own chances of playing regularly.

Jesus scored four goals at the weekend on the same day reports emerged that he is considering an exit in the summer in order to play more regularly and also get more opportunities as a central striker. The reports suggested that with City targeting a move for Haaland, Jesus' own playing time would be further reduced.

Speaking after his heroics against Watford, Jesus declined to talk about his future, but did suggest he would play anywhere for City to help them win the Premier League and Champions League this season. Now, he has told Marca that he will decide on his future at the end of the season.

He said: "From my beginnings I played in different attacking positions, but, yes, you ask me my preference, I am more used to being a nine and I like it more too. I have that versatility to play on the wings, but I prefer to be a nine.

"I've been here for five years and not long, I came very young, at 19, and both the club and the players have won many titles. The Champions League is missing, we were left at the gates last year and this year we are in the semis. I am focused on the end of the season, on these games, which are all decisive. Later we will see what happens regarding renewal or closing a cycle."

Jesus's change in stance regarding his position comes after Pep Guardiola said he had decided to focus more on playing as a winger this season - a position he has played well in.
