Erling Haaland issues heartfelt Borussia Dortmund message ahead of Man City transfer

Erling Haaland has sent an emotional 'thank you' message to Borussia Dortmund after playing his final game for the club ahead of joining Manchester City this summer.

Last Tuesday, City, who will be aiming to move one step closer towards wrapping up the Premier League title when they travel to West Ham United on Sunday afternoon, announced that they had reached an agreement with Dortmund to sign the striker this summer, subject to personal terms being agreed. It is understood that City will bring him to the Etihad Stadium for £51million.

Haaland, who marked his final outing in Dortmund colours with a goal, scoring a penalty in their final day Bundesliga victory over Hertha Berlin, will officially join City when the transfer window opens. His addition to Pep Guardiola's squad is a huge statement of intent from the club and shows that they mean business ahead of next term.

Since joining Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg in December 2019, Haaland has blossomed into one of the most highly-rated players in the world and leaves the club with an outstanding record in front of goal, scoring 86 goals in just 89 appearances. He also registered 23 assists during that time.

Having made a real name for himself at Dortmund, it is only natural that the Norwegian international, who was born in Leeds, will feel a slight tinge of sadness at leaving the club.
