Gabriel Jesus reveals how long he plans to stay at Arsenal after completing transfer

Gabriel Jesus has declared he wants to stay at Arsenal for the next five years after sealing a £45million transfer to the Emirates Stadium from Manchester City.

The Gunners completed the signing of the 25-year-old on a long-term deal until 2027 earlier this month, after he spent half a decade at the Etihad Stadium, winning a number of major honours. Jesus scored 95 goals in 236 games for City and lifted the Premier League on four occasions.

Now, Jesus will be looking to deliver success for his new side as the Gunners try to improve on last season's fifth-place finish and challenge for trophies once again. He has made an impressive start to life at the club in pre-season by scoring three goals in his first two matches.

The Brazilian netted twice off the bench in the 5-3 win over 2. Bundesliga side Nurnberg on July 8, before scoring the opener in a comfortable success against Everton last Sunday. When explaining why he joined the Gunners, Jesus said the influence of manager Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu helped before going on to state how long he wants to be at the club for.

"Well, I believe it’s not a re-adaptation because I’m still in the same league, country environment, so that helps a lot," Gabriel Jesus told TNT Sports.

"And in an environment where there are many young people, everyone talks, everyone laughs, everyone has fun together. There are Brazilians, there’s Mikel, there’s Edu, there are people from the staff that I also worked with.

"So this part is very important, the way the players welcomed me here is also important, it counted a lot. And, well, I’m happy to be here, for the start of this pre-season. And I believe that it is still nothing of what is to come."
