Gabriel Jesus goal: Arsenal striker scores brilliantly vs Everton
Arsenal beat Everton 2-0 in a friendly last night to maintain their perfect start to pre-season so far, but a goal from Gabriel Jesus stole the headlines.
The Gunners kicked off their preparations for the 2022/23 season with a 5-3 win over Nurnburg last week, and treated fans in the United States to a convincing performance to see off the Toffees in the M&T Bank Stadium.
All eyes are on Arsenal heading into next season with Mikel Arteta’s young, rebuilt Gunners squad looking to correct just narrowly missing out on Champions League football last season, despite being written off by most people.
Two strikes in three minutes were all Arsenal needed to see off Everton in America, but it was the opener that people are continuing to talk about, with Jesus impressing once again.
The Brazilian striker signed for the Gunners from Manchester City in a £45 million deal earlier in the transfer window and has got fans excited with his strong start to life as an Arsenal player.
His goal against Everton last night has only continued to fuel the excitement among Arsenal fans, giving them a new lease of life in front of goal – an area which proved problematic last season.
Jesus opened the scoring after 33 minutes from a corner, doing so in impressive fashion as he plucked a well delivered ball to the back post out of thin air with a deft first touch, stopping the ball dead and subsequently rifling it home for 1-0.
Let’s take a look at what was a very smart finish.
