GAA announce dates for National football and hurling leagues
The fixtures and dates have been announced for the National Football and Hurling leagues, with Ger Brennan's first game as Dublin manager at home to Donegal on January 24th.
Brennan's last game as Louth manager was a preliminary quarter-final defeat to Donegal.
In an opening weekend full of blockbuster games, Andy Moran's first game in charge of Mayo is against rivals Galway in Pearse Stadium, with defending champions taking on Roscommon in Killarney.
In Division Two, Meath v Derry will be the curtain raiser in Croke Park for Dublin v Donegal.
The football finals will be held on the weekend of March 28th/29th, along with the Division Two, Three and Four hurling finals, and the Division 1A and 1B hurling deciders will come the following weekend, April 4th/5th.
The provincial football championships begin on the weekend of April 11/12. The Munster and Connacht football finals are on the weekend of May 9th/10th, with the Leinster and Ulster football finals on the weekend of May 16th/17th.
The All-Ireland football final is scheduled for Sunday, July 26, while the Tailteann Cup final will take place on Saturday, July 11.
In hurling, the standout Division 1A game will see Tipperary take on Galway, with Ben O'Connor's first game in charge of Cork against Waterford.
The provincial hurling championships begin on April 18/19.
In round 1 of the Munster SHC, Clare will play Waterford and Tipperary face Cork. A week later, it's Cork v Limerick, and Waterford v Tipperary. On the weekend of May 2/3, Clare play Limerick, and a week later Waterford face Cork.
Round 4 on May 16/17 sees Tipperary play Clare and Limerick clash with Waterford. The final round of games on May 23/24 has Cork v Clare and Limerick v Tipperary.
