Further details emerge on Todd Cantwell’s potential move from Norwich City to AFC Bournemouth

Norwich City winger Todd Cantwell’s potential loan move to AFC Bournemouth is ‘progressing’ well and there will be the option to make this deal permanent in the summer, as per a Twitter update from talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook.

This link was first reported by The Telegraph’s John Percy yesterday morning, with Greek outfit Olympiacos also thought to have been interested in recruiting the 23-year-old on a temporary deal.

And both sides have made formal moves to take him away from Carrow Road on loan, with journalist Pete O’Rourke reporting that it was now down to Cantwell to choose the destination he wanted to go to as he seeks a fresh start.

The winger hasn’t been a regular figure recently for Dean Smith’s men, starting their opening three Premier League games of the 2021/22 campaign and playing a part in the following two but only making eight league appearances in total for the Canaries this term.

His future at his current side looks bleak in the short term under Smith – and with this – Norwich look set to sanction yet another EFL loan move for one of their players after seeing Jordan Hugill join Cardiff City for the remainder of the season.

Although it has been reported that Cantwell will have to choose between the Cherries and Olympiacos, talkSPORT’s Crook believes talks with the former are on track as the wide man potentially looks set to remain in England – and may even make the move there permanently at the end of 2021/22 if a clause is inserted into this temporary agreement.

He registered six goals and seven assists in 33 second-tier displays last term – a record he will want to replicate or perhaps even improve on as he looks to be closing in on a move to the south coast.
