Full list of schools CLOSED across Greater Manchester as deep freeze continues

Children are being asked to stay at home by several schools across Greater Manchester as another day begins in the cold snap. Temperatures have plummeted in the region throughout this week, amid snow and icy conditions.

A yellow weather warning for ice is in force across parts of Greater Manchester until 10am this morning (January 10), including Wigan and some areas of Salford and Trafford. Disruption is expected on roads and public transport.

People are urged to take care on icy surfaces along many roads and pavements. Follow live weather and traffic updates here.

Many schools have kept their doors closed on certain days across this week. Icy conditions have caused boiler and heating issues for some schools. Others have been unable to make their grounds safe for students.

Several schools have already confirmed they will remain closed today (Friday). Online learning will be available for many of the students asked to stay at home.
