Jurgen Klopp is one of the very best man-managers in modern football.

His Liverpool predecessor Brendan Rodgers very much is not.

It was a shock when FSG parted company with the Northern Irishman back in October 2015 following a 1-1 draw at Everton, as demonstrated by Thierry Henry and Jamie Carragher's viral reaction on Sky Sports.

Having overseen a summer spending spree and coaching staff overhaul following a disappointed 2014/15 campaign, it had looked like the Reds’ American owners planned to keep faith with Rodgers and stick with him for the long-haul.

But that all changed when it became clear that they could lure Klopp out of his self-enforced sabbatical just months after leaving Borussia Dortmund.

Rodgers was out, Klopp was in. And Liverpool haven’t looked back since.

Leading the Reds to League Cup and Europa League finals in his first few months in charge, the German took Liverpool back into the Champions League courtesy of a top four finish in 2016/17, before reaching the final in 2017/18
