'Frustration' among Rangers fans over 71-cap Ibrox star

Rangers fans are growing frustrated over Aaron Ramsey’s slow start to his Ibrox career, according to the Herald and Glasgow Times’ senior Gers reporter Chris Jack.

Ramsey made the move to the reigning Scottish Premiership champions hours before the January transfer window slammed shut, joining on loan from Italian giants Juventus until the end of the season, but the temporary switch has not gone to plan so far.

Ramsey claimed he was ‘excited’ to reignite his career after heading to Rangers on deadline day, but that has not been possible during the early days of his Ibrox stint.

It was revealed prior to the Gers’ clash with Dundee United earlier this month that the 31-year-old had suffered a minor knock.

Although Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst revealed the central midfielder had returned to training last week, Ramsey also failed to make the matchday squad for the stalemate with Motherwell on Sunday.

Van Bronckhorst, who succeeded Steven Gerrard as the Glasgow giants’ boss in November, has hit back at critics of the Welshman and insisted Ramsey’s Rangers career is going ‘as planned’.

But former Scotland international striker Frank McAvennie has suggested Ramsey’s injury problems should not have come as a surprise due to his lack of action in recent years and hinted Gers fans may not see much of the ex-Arsenal man before his loan expires.

That could prove to be the case as Ramsey has been restricted to just 94 minutes of action and one start since swapping Juventus for Rangers.
