From 'we've lost' to 'thank God': Man United fans react to Cristiano Ronaldo derby squad absence

Manchester United fans are disagreeing this evening as Cristiano Ronaldo was not pictured with the Reds squad as they arrived at their hotel ahead of tomorrow's match with City.

Although Ronaldo's absence does not confirm he will be left out of the matchday squad for the derby, it is cause for concern among some United fans. Raphael Varane and Edinson Cavani were also absent.

The Portuguese ace is United's leading goalscorer this season with 15 goals in 31 appearances. However, he has only scored once this year - against Brighton and Hove Albion last month and his performances have been scrutinised.

Reaction to the news of Ronaldo's absence has been mixed. Some have suggested that this gives United the chance to play with the likes of Marcus Rashford or Edinson Cavani in the forward role, while others feel it is unwise to leave the 37-year-old out of such an important match.

Here is what Twitter has had to say about the possibility of no Ronaldo tomorrow afternoon.
