Freddie Draper admits Drogs future remains 'up in the air'

Freddie Draper says his Droghed United future is still "up in the air" as he waits to see if League One Lincoln City will recall him from his loan spell at the end of the month.

Draper, 18, has been a real success with the Drogs since arriving from the Imps in January along with defender Elicha Ahui, who has also shone for Kevin Doherty's side.

This week, imposing striker Draper was named the SSE Airtricity/Soccer Writers Ireland player of the month for May after bagging four goals, including a brilliant effort in the 2-1 victory at Shamrock Rovers.

He took a trip to Malta during the mid-season break but has returned ahead of tonight's Louth derby against Dundalk at Weavers Park, though he remains uncertain about how long he'll be sticking around.

"To be honest, I'm not too sure," said Coventry-born Draper.

"I'm just taking it a game at a time and focusing on the game against Dundalk really. That's all I'm thinking about and that's all that really matters at the moment.

"It's all up in the air right now and I'm not too sure. I'm just focusing on the game against Dundalk."

Lincoln are managed by former Repubic of Ireland international Mark Kennedy. He has been over to watch Draper, who will most definitely have impressed him.

The teenager has made great stride in his time in Ireland, and would be massively missed by Drogheda if he was to head back to England after next week's clash away to Cork City.

"I didn't manage to speak to him but he's been to a couple of games recently," Draper said of Kennedy.

"The loan move has been the best decision I have made so far in my career. It helped me to gain confidence and show everyone what I can do.
