Fred shares cryptic social media message as he closes in on Manchester United transfer exit

Midfielder Fred has all but confirmed his exit from Manchester United after making a key alteration to his Facebook page.

United, who will get their Premier League campaign up and running at home to Wolves on Monday evening, issued a statement on Friday evening to confirm that they had reached an agreement in principle with Turkish side Fenerbahce to sell the Brazilian. It is understood that the Reds have accepted an offer of €15million (£12.93m).

Fred, who played no part in the club's pre-season tour of the United States, is scheduled to fly to Turkey on Saturday to undergo a medical and put the finishing touches to the move. United were always intent on selling him this summer.

The club were, of course, determined to bolster their midfield options this summer with a younger operator, highlighting why they moved for Chelsea ace Mason Mount last month.

Though Fred has not officially finalised his move to Fenerbahce just yet, the Brazilian has suggested that he is keen to get it wrapped up and is looking forward to his next chapter. Following the release of United's statement confirming their agreement with the Turkish outfit, the midfielder took to Facebook to update his cover photo.

The 30-year-old uploaded a loading screen on a black background, simply displaying the word 'Loading'. It was, of course, a nod to his impending departure from Old Trafford, which is now in the process of being completed.
