Frankie Dettori aiming for final Doncaster St. Leger triumph as bookies reveal he's cost them £400m

Frankie Dettori is aiming to conclude his illustrious career on a high note by clinching his 24th Classic victory at Doncaster in the Betfred St Leger this Saturday.

As Dettori plans to retire at the season's end, he has one final ambition in his legendary racing career, to secure the St Leger title before hanging up his boots.

With high hopes riding on Arrest, the 10-3 favourite, Dettori anticipates a triumphant finish in his final Classic race. This season has been impressive for the Italian, who has enjoyed success in various races and major festivals as part of his highly publicised retirement tour.

To commemorate Dettori's last Classic race, Befred, the title sponsor of the St Leger, has erected a 10-foot-tall retirement card in his honour. Throughout the event, racegoers will have the opportunity to pen their own heartfelt messages paying tribute to the jockey's illustrious career.

Done recalls a momentous occasion in 1996 when Dettori's seven wins at Ascot nearly brought him to his knees. Positioned just outside the weighing room, the retirement card will take centre stage as a fitting tribute to one of racing's most beloved stars.

Expressing his admiration for Dettori, Fred Done said, "Frankie has been fantastic for racing and will leave a big hole in the weighing room when he goes. The 23 Classic winners have cost us a few quid, but
