Francis Ngannou to face Anthony Joshua in Saudi Arabia as box office fight a 'done deal' for 2024
Francis Ngannou is set for his next big boxing fight as it's being reported he will face Anthony Joshua in Saudi Arabia.
The former MMA star stunned the world with his performance against Tyson Fury. He lost on points in a split decision to the undefeated heavyweight champ but it was widely controversial with most fans and pundits agreeing Ngannou had won the fight.
He's since made it clear he's not finished with boxing as he embarks on an effort to make a name as a serious pro in boxing and attentions soon turned to who he would face next. And combat sports journalist Ariel Helwani is reporting he is set to face Joshua in Saudi Arabia with the date yet to be confirmed but taking place 'later this year.' He confirmed it via Turki Al-Sheikh, chairman of the Saudi General Authority for Entertainment who is often seen sitting next to Cristiano Ronaldo at big fights in the middle east.
The news comes as something of a surprise as former champ Joshua appeared set to fight Filip Hrgovic next for the vacant IBF title. But he'll be the next man to step up to Ngannou in what promises to be one of the most anticipated bouts of the year already.
