Four-vehicle crash closes A48 between M4 Pont Abraham and Cross Hands - live updates

A serious accident involving four vehicles has closed part of the A48 in Carmarthenshire. Dyfed Powys Police say that the road is closed in both directions from Crosshands to Pont Abraham.

A statement from Traffic Wales, which monitors the main routes in Wales, said: "We have been made aware that four vehicles have been involved in a serious collision. The road is now going to be closed for some time. Please avoid the area and find an alternative route."

Traffic monitors are showing that three vehicles have been involved in the crash that has happened between Heol Parc Mawr and the Cwmgwili turn off. Congestion to the Cross Hands Roundabout.

The accident has happened on the eastbound carriageway but westbound has been closed to help emergency services work at the scene.
