Four signings and a £40million windfall- Manchester United's dream end to transfer window

Manchester United only have 48 hours until transfer deadline day.

The Reds remain active but will their supporters be feeling blue when the clock ticks down? Even with a mouth-watering showdown against long-standing Premier League rivals Arsenal now on the horizon, Erik ten Hag and those responsible for recruitment are going full steam ahead when it comes to putting together the final touches to their squad.

After finishing third last season, United acted decisively to sign Andre Onana, Mason Mount and yet-to-be seen Denmark striker Rasmus Hojlund for a combined £180million-plus. Onana was, incidentally, their only recruit available during the 3-2 win against Nottingham Forest and that may also be the case for the Arsenal game.

Mount and Hojlund will return soon enough to bolster the club's longer-term aims but there is some instant issues to resolve and number-crunching for Ten Hag and key figures upstairs to do. But what will happen at United before the 11pm cut-off comes and goes on Friday night?

In a dream scenario, there would be four additional signings. Turkey goalkeeper Altay Bayindir is on the way from Fenerbahce to offset Dean Henderson joining Crystal Palace for £20million plus add-ons. Bayindir will cost £6million and ex-United player Fred has, accidentally, appeared to confirm that move on social media.

Fred's one-time midfield partner Scott McTominay could follow him out of the door. However, with Donny van de Beek subject to interest - and surplus to requirements - departures for both remains
