Four players could leave Man City this week as Pep Guardiola gives update on new signing

Joao Cancelo could leave Manchester City permanently before Friday's transfer deadline, with a switch to Saudi Arabia moving in the right direction.

Cancelo has spent the last 18 months out on loan at Bayern Munich and then Barcelona after falling out with Pep Guardiola in January 2023. Barcelona's financial issues have prevented them from making a move for the full-back, who they wanted to keep, and they are still unable to register new signing Dani Olmo despite allowing Ilkay Gundogan to rejoin City to free up some finances.

Guardiola insists he will welcome Cancelo back to City if he doesn't leave this week, and the Portuguese has been training with the first team at the Etihad campus. He has been left out of matchday squads against Manchester United, Chelsea and Ipswich so remains out of Guardiola's plans for the time being.

With the deadline for an exit approaching, Al Hilal are working on a deal to sign Cancelo, 30, who still has three years left on his contract. While a move is being worked on, nothing has yet been agreed. The Daily Mail report any transfer would be in the region of £30m and it is up to Cancelo whether to accept.

If Cancelo did leave at that price, it would mean City recoup their £60m spent on a player signed from Juventus in 2019 - as they received between £30-35m for Danilo when he went the other way. Cancelo has helped win seven trophies including three Premier League titles, and his move into midfield transformed Guardiola's tactics in the 2021/22 season.
