While Manchester City won't overhaul their squad in January, there are some key transfer decisions on the horizon in the summer transfer window.

With Pep Guardiola's future beyond this season far from certain and Hugo Viana replacing Txiki Begiristain as the club's sporting director, there could be a very new feel at the Etihad Stadium next summer.

But regardless of whether there's a new voice in the dugout, City have some decisions to take before the summer. As such, here is a look at four City players who are on notice ahead of the summer transfer window.

Gundogan may have only rejoined City in the summer but he is yet to hit the heights of his first spell at the Etihad Stadium.

The former Barcelona midfielder returned in the summer on an initial one-year contract and there is perhaps an argument to be made that he needs to reach the levels of his first spell later this season to justify that stay being prolonged.

Gundogan is 34-year-old and it may be best for all parties if his second stay ends in the summer. With Kevin De Bruyne also out of contract in the summer, the Belgian's future will be a much more urgent priority for City to resolve than Gundogan's.

When Phillips joined City in the summer of 2022 from Leeds United, there was much optimism about what he would add to Guardiola's squad.

In truth, though, he has never been able to hit the standard City expected of him and a disastrous loan spell at West Ham United last season all but ended any chance of his City career being resurrected.
