Four clubs make transfer move for Middlesbrough player

ATK Mohun Bagan, East Bengal, FC Baku and Istanbul Basaksehir have all made contract offers to Middlesbrough wing-back Neil Taylor, according to a report from The Sun.

The 33-year-old is one of three players to have been released by the Teesside club ahead of the summer with two other experienced defenders in Sol Bamba and Lee Peltier also set to leave the Riverside Stadium.

First arriving at Chris Wilder’s side in November on a short-term contract, he did enough to earn himself an extension until the end of the season, making 14 league appearances during his time at his current side.

They are currently seeking other options on the left side though and with Chelsea’s Baba Rahman on their radar, it looks as though they won’t be U-turning on their decision not to offer the Welshman a fresh contract.

He isn’t short of interest from elsewhere though with ATK Mohun Bagan and East Bengal both offering him an escape route to India, though he could also make the move to Azerbaijan or Turkey with FC Baku and Istanbul Basaksehir having him on their radar as well.

Because of his age, Taylor can negotiate a contract elsewhere now even with his existing terms at the Riverside not expiring until the end of this month.

The Verdict:

Although a move abroad may be tempted for the experienced Welshman in the latter stages of his career, you feel he could still do a job for a side in the second tier.

Derby County are one side that will be looking to strengthen all areas and if he’s willing to take the step down, something he may be willing to do to get the chance to play under Wayne Rooney, that could be a good option for him.
