Formula E: Lucas Di Grassi praises series as it approaches 100-race mark

Lucas Di Grassi has praised how Formula E has grown ahead of its 100th race over the Seoul E-Prix weekend in South Korea.

Stoffel Vandoorne is the man in command at the top of the all-electric series’ standings heading into the final weekend, and it’ll take a fair few surprises now if he is not crowned champion over the weekend of August 13th and 14th in South Korea.

Indeed, he’s had a fine season and achieved a lot during his time on the grid since joining the sport, but few can compare with the experience that Di Grassi has of FE, with him part of it from its inception and also a championship winner himself.

Who better, then, to discuss how far FE has come from the beginning to its current position with Gen 3 just around the corner next season?

Speaking to the virtually gathered press including Give Me Sport, the Brazilian reflected on a landmark moment for the sport:

“I think the championship has evolved, everybody can see since season one that the championship has changed massively.

“It’s matured. It’s come from something that was a big doubt to something that had promise to something that has delivered on that promise.

“Any company, regardless if it’s a sport or not, they have cycles so I believe Formula E has established itself as a very important racing series. We can see more or less where Formula E is going to go. It’s going to grow organically, it’s not going to explode and overtake Formula 1 in two years but it’s not going to die, so we know where Formula E is going to go.

“The next big thing in Formula E will be the Gen 3 car which is much faster, smaller and lighter, so it’ll be more impressive to see on track. The events are hopefully going to be more like London with more stuff happening and a better
