'Formidable' - former Manchester United coach explains why Ruben Amorim can be a success

Former Manchester United first-team coach Rene Meulensteen is backing Ruben Amorim to make his mark at Old Trafford, insisting he has the tactical ability to succeed.

Amorim was appointed as Erik ten Hag's successor on November 1, signing a deal until the summer of 2027, and he will take charge for the very first time against Ipswich Town at Portman Road on Sunday afternoon.

The 39-year-old, who United have described as 'one of the most exciting and highly rated young coaches in European football', has brought a feeling of fresh energy to Old Trafford, hitting all of the right notes in his first interview last week.
