Former West Brom boss Alan Pardew set for managerial return

Former West Bromwich Albion boss Alan Pardew is reportedly set for a return to management with CSKA Sofia.

Pardew, who was in charge at the Hawthorns from 2017 to 2018 after replacing Tony Pulis, was originally appointed as an advisor on football matters to the owners of Bulgarian side CSKA Sofia in 2020 but now looks set to take on the responsibilities of manager on a short-term basis after the man previously in the role, Stoycho Mladenov, departed on Thursday.

A statement from the club when he first joined Sofia read: "Army men, English football specialist Alan Pardew will henceforth be part of the big red family of the Army. He will take the position of technical director and will help with his vast experience and contacts in the overall development of the club and attracting players to the representative team. The 59-year-old Briton has already signed his contract and started working immediately. Welcome to the Army, Mr Alan Pardew!”

Pardew and West Brom mutually agreed to part ways in April 2018, after just four months in charge. The Baggies had gone 10 games without a win, were on a eight game losing streak and were bottom of the Premier League.
